Who Is Surrounding You?

This morning I was thinking about how my life has changed over the past several years and I realized that through each stage I attracted and surrounded myself with certain kinds of people. The bigger aha came when I realized that those people that were in my life at that time matched the energy of my life.

For instance, when I first moved to the city at the age of 19, I met a group of people who were living paycheck-to-paycheck pretty much just to be able to eat and pay rent, just as I was doing. None of us were worried about money because none of us had families or houses or expensive cars. We just wanted to eat and have a place to sleep and there was always a way to do that.

This is normal. Everyone goes through that during the college years.

The next phase came with a group of girlfriends. For the most part, we all seemed to be unlucky in love. We were just starting to look into what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives and were also testing the waters of relationships. We were sort of floating around, not really sticking to any particular relationship or job, crying in frustration on one anothers shoulders every time we experienced perceived failure at a job or in a relationship.

That ended when all but one of us got married. At that point, we didnt need the energy of that type of relationship anymore. Either the relationship shifted or it ended. For most of us it ended.

Then came the struggling career group. We would all hang out and piss and moan about how our careers werent taking off like we would have liked and about how we werent making any money. It was like this group was stuck in an energetic time warp of no money, no success, no forward movement. Its not a good place to be for anyone.

The interesting part about this group is that I only stuck around it for a year and a half or so, but that group has been together for years. As far as I know, its still together. I realized after about a year that I was surrounding myself with people and with an energy that I did not want in my life. If I wanted to be successful, I would have to surround myself with optimistic, successful people, not people who are crying over failure all the time. So, I left.

Since I have realized that I need to surround myself with successful, positive people, my career has really taken off. I have people that are willing to help me with anything I need and I am just as willing to help them. We are all going in the same direction and we want to see each other succeed. Thats what its all about for us success for everyone.

This is what I really want. Im in the perfect place for now. It will be even more perfect if we all decide to grow together to the point where we are at the top of our game and still support one another. Hopefully, we will be the next generation of highly successful business owners.

So I ask you:

Who do you surround yourself with?

Is it a good match for you right now?

Is it what you want?

If its not, what are you going to do about it?
